From offering a hand up to building tomorrow's leaders, United Way of Baldwin County creates lasting change in our community.

United Way Receives CFSA Grant

The Community Foundation of South Alabama selected United Way of Baldwin County to receive a $179,000 grant to support the organization’s Healing Families program.  Through United Way of Baldwin County’s United Medical Partnership for Children, the healing families program will provide medical, dental and vision services to uninsured or underinsured public school children ages five to 18.  The grant will also provide mentoring and tutoring services for youth ages eight to 18 and financial counseling assistance to individuals impacted by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.

“We are deeply grateful for the grant,” said United Way of Baldwin County’s Executive Director Rebecca Byrne. “This funding will allow us to provide healthcare, financial stability and youth services to individuals and families who were hit hardest during the past year.”

United Way’s grant is part of more than $1.5 million donated by Community Foundation of South Alabama to assist communities in Baldwin and Mobile Counties struggling to recover from the oil spill. The grants were made possible by a contribution received from the Fund for Gulf Communities, a program of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.

The Fund for Gulf Communities was created through an anonymous donation to Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors with a goal to enhance the resiliency of diverse communities along the Gulf Coast. Community Foundation of South Alabama works with nonprofit organization to direct services and funding to people in need.
